Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) with a dotted reporting line to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the Head of Non-AML Compliance (referred to herein as the HNAC or the Incumbent), will be responsible for overseeing non-AML regulated activities, as well as building, implementing and overseeing all non-AML compliance risks including: fraud risk, whistleblowing, ethics, data handling, outsourcing, customer service / complaints handling, conflicts management, business continuity, and corporate governance, for the business globally. The incumbent will be expected to build a team to meet these goals.

The Incumbent’s responsibilities also include representing Tether in the UAE; reviewing local regulations, and interfacing with local regulators including the Central Bank of the UAE and other UAE regulatory bodies as may be required (e.g. VARA, FSRA, SCA, DFSA) in cooperation with the CCO and VP of Regulatory and Licensing.

In establishing standards, implementing procedures and fostering a ‘Culture of Compliance’, the HNAC ensures that the non-AML compliance programs within the organization are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The HNAC provides reasonable assurance to the CCO and Senior Management that there are effective policies and procedures in place, which are well understood and respected by all company personnel and that the Company is complying with all regulatory requirements. 


Responsabilites:

  • The Incumbent will work with the CCO in order to assess non-AML standards across the group business

  • The Incumbent will work with the business teams to understand the existing systems and controls in place and any gaps between existing systems and controls and required standards

  • The Incumbent will work with the business teams to implement practical and robust standards across the group and develop timelines re the same

  • The Incumbent will assist HNAC in working with senior management to assess appropriateness of additional systems and controls and help prepare policies on the same

  • The Incumbent will assist HNAC in ensuring deadlines for implementation of systems and controls are in place and fully operational by the required dates

  • Developing the Annual Compliance Work Plan and conducting periodic reviews and revisions of the Plan

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that the organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations and standards across the C Suite verticals

  • In conjunction with the VP Regulatory and Licensing, defining the requisite level of knowledge on existing and emerging regulatory compliance requirements across the organization

  • Coordinating internal compliance reviews across the organization’s verticals including periodic departmental reviews

  • Providing advice and training on Compliance Matters to the Organization and its subsidiaries

  • Preparing and presenting clear and concise reports to the Board

  • Notifying the General Counsel of violations or suspected violations of Applicable Compliance Laws and Regulations

  • Ensuring that all documentation and records are secured and maintained by designated custodians consistent with regulatory requirements of Applicable Compliance Laws and Regulations

  • Independently investigating and acting on matters related to Compliance

  • Interacting with regulators on Compliance Issues (including Mandatory Reporting)

Job requirements

  • Strong legal or compliance background with at least 5 years relevant work experience in either field.

  • University education

  • Minimum demonstrated experience in a senior international compliance role

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience on the concept, evaluation and mitigation of risks relating to compliance risks

  • Experience working for a regulatory agency, (preferred)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated critical-thinking skills, (decision-making)

  • Demonstrated experience managing people and interfacing with multiple teams

  • Advanced organizational understanding and the management of change

  • Demonstrated experience in interacting with regulators
